Never Die

We all know the story

Of that hazy, haunted day

We know that they walked back in

While others raced away

I will scream it from my nightmares

I will whisper it when I cry

You can choose to believe or not

But I know

That legends never die

I see you in the shadows

A unit moving now as one

Helmets gleaming, badges shining

Under an imaginary sun

Back here in the darkness

I feel it when I cry

And you can believe or not believe

This heart, it knows

That legends never die

So many lives saved

So many missing, so many lost

That ache rises in my throat yet again

It is never ending, paying this cost

And in the night I see the glow

It is all around you now

You smile slightly and nod

I do my best not to cry

You never walk away on these nights

So I never have to say goodbye

And I know for sure now, that truth

That lives forever within your eyes

That heroes really do live forever

And legends

Legends never die

Remember The Heroes 9-11-01

Cade,

A powerful rememberance to that awful day--thank you for never forgetting when so many have--a strongly penned, emotional write, very well written.

(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla. :(

Absolutely outstanding, this gave me such a feeling. Beautiful and very powerful tribute.
