Happy Father's Day, Dad

Dad, this year instead of gifts,
store bought or factory made-
I thought I'd give you something,
that wouldn't wilt or colors fade

I looked at house shoes, of all kinds,
soft leather and fabric prints-
Ties and tools, rod-n-reels-
camping gear, lanterns and tents

Then I thought, domestic,
a dinner with a juicy steak-
But then, the notion struck me-
maybe you'd rather be at the lake

Down by the water in the sun,
to relax for just a while-
You always did like it there-
and it left you with a smile

This year Dad, it's different,
and your gift has to be just right-
No shoes, no ties, no tools will do,
so these words to you, I'll write

You see, Daddy he's an angel,
and on Heaven's shore he rests-
But its through the fondest of memories,
that I know he's still best!

In Loving Memory:
Happy Father's Day, Dad

Lisa,

Any father would be blessed, indeed, to receive such a beautiful tribute...and to have a talented daughter like yourself! Well done!

We all seem to think in the physical sense But the real gifts are those of love like this poem expresses so wonderfully

Beautiful tribute. Ah, memories are the fondest; for many this can be a sad day but you turned the tears into smiles.

You brought tears to my eyes with this, Lisa. The warm memories could still be felt and your love, also, which is as strong as it every has been. They are our parents, and though they were not perfect, they did the best that they could and had nothing but the best intentions and highest hopes for us. This is an excellent tribute to your first love.
Take care,
Sherry

This is very touching and I feel the same way to my father who has been gone for almost 25 years now. Somewhere I see him smiling.
