God, I was green when you met me
I still believed in fairy tales
Of love and commitment
Surely if I loved you with all my heart
You would give the same
I hadnít yet learned about deceptions

The lessons were swift and painful
A whiff of Poison
When I only wear Ysatis
Of course, the older lady in the office hugged you
How could I be so suspicious
A pair of panties under your car seat
That certainly werenít mine
But I listened to you lie
And wondered about deceptions

I nodded when you complained
About all the time you had to work
Was sympathetic
When you were down with the flu
I comforted you when you came back
But went on with my life when you were gone
I now knew about deceptions

So here I am, looking up into your eyes
For the first time in weeks
As our bodies cool and our minds engage
You ask me gently
If I still love you, if you are my only man
I look deep into your eyes
And smile that loving after sex smile
And say youíll always be my only love
God, I wish you hadnít taught me to play so well
This lying game
Called deception

Ah Sue, a road too many of us have traveled... and eyes too many of us have looked into.... may they never mirror our own.
