You saw him
I felt him see me

I Live

I donít expect you to understand my feelings for him.

You see the destruction he left behind.

I live his love, the one thing he didnít wreck.

You heard his anger and watched him walk away.

I felt his pain and knew he walked with half a heart.

I live the half he left behind.

You saw my tears and felt what you wanted me to feel.

I know my tears wouldnít exist without their opposite.

You see my empty world.

I live the gifts of his essence

I live his smile,

not the one you know but the one he created for me

to replace lost words,

convey emotions

the one that spoke to my spirit,

encouraged my dreams,

enhanced my drive,

carried my sorrow

I live his hunger for my passion,

his joy in my happiness,

his pride in my accomplishments

his breath in my being

You saw him.

I felt him see me, really see me

and love the ugliness I exposed

sometimes because I knew his eyes would soften it

I donít expect you to understand

only to let me live

A splendid look into what others perceive and how it should be ignored in many cases that involve affairs of the heart.

I really like this a lot, Sandy. A sobering reminder that we can never judge from the outside what is going on in others' relationships - let alone their heads! Just sorting out our own can be hard enough!! I also like the twist of being reminded that what we might take to be "abuse" of whatever sort may be actually far from the truth, in that the odd difficulty or show of things going awry may do little to undo the previous good that has been shown and sown, given and received. You have subtley crafted a multiplicity of emotions with a dextrous and economic hand - my reviews could learn a lot from your clarity and cleanness! And I like the way you take this head on. Glad to hear that you have your own very inspirational Luz in your household! TY Kate xx
