Incomplete Dreams

It seems reason dreams
of completion, but,
does it care if completion happens,
in harmony?

(Don’t show your feelings, don’t show
you’re human, don’t emote, don’t promote
absences, don’t, don’t, don’t…)

Once, again, I used my ‘power’, my ‘charisma’,
or maybe anger, or maybe my paranoia, spurred by drink,
to command another
not to cower, but,
do I have the right?

It seems emotions dream
of absolution, but,
do they care for completion,
or, disharmony?

(Don’t feel free to be able to
be human, don’t promote, don’t emote
abstracts, don’t, don’t, don’t….)

Once, again, which is why I keep myself
imprisoned, with exanimate reasons,
I commanded another
not to cower, but,
isn’t that what I do?

there are so many lessons to be learned in the act of restraint or cowering...
an engaging, powerfully expressed write, Erin. much enjoyed.

Ah Erin, I think this is one very powerful and thought-provoking poem, It makes you stop and think a bit...because one has the power, should they use it? Love the strength and control you express in this excellent and insightful poem.

This could be a great song, maybe something that Ozzy Ozbourne might sing with the old Black Sabbath group, though is does seem, Erin, more could come of this one...this struck a cord on this end...Ed
