mud pies, wild onions
and Jews and their candy kins
untopped foundation
a neighbor astray ...
follow the leader
and find a new leader
and where is my leader?
we're lost
we just play ...
and guiltless we play
as children do play
until one man leader
has something to say ...
with rifles, dead bunnies
and stew for a day
and you for a day
until wedding day
the sad wedding day ...
but he's mine
he's mine
and he can't go away
and he won't go away
we just play
we still play
and those boys and their guns
and one robbing away
and he does go away
and he's follow the leader
a boy and his toy gun
a teen and his candy store
going astray
and at someone's command
used his weapon that day
through my own daddy's head
one straight bullet ... he's dead

and I loved him

I loved him

he can't go away

and he won't go away

'cause I died with you, daddy ...
you can't go away

no, don't judge
just a boy
a poor black ignorant slave boy

it all must have been

an innocent

This is so sad and such a tale of senseless death. I hope it is not real and if it is my heart is with you.

this is so sad

males and guns, a lethal combination that often leads to senseless death

A very heartfelt write. This tells a story.

This one also reminds me of the news of Sara, the 16 year-old=teenager who get life without parole for killing her parent. It was on the news last night. Very sad indeed...
