Waiting Alone, Confused

Eager forgotten perplexed
Waiting by the closed store door
Expectant forlorn confused

As always, no poet, but you get the notion.

Little Guye apparently was left behind by mistake at the Kansas truck stop where we stopped to get gas one fine day 2 weeks ago. From Coffeyville to Pittsburg; Hubby had sites to inspect, vehicle needed petrol.

Pup waited by the store door, walked each trucker out to his truck and waited to be lifted up into the cab before slowly walking back to take up his vigil once again when the trucker left him behind.

While hubby pumped gas I watched the pup try to lick a little moisture left over from the previous night's rain.

Guye was a little nervous when we put him on the back seat, but as soon as the car engine sounded he curled up and went to sleep. Husband and I agreed, this little fellow most likely had come from a long haul trucker who left him behind accidentally.

We stopped at WalMart where I purchased a collar, leash and small sack of dog food. Dog food did not interest him, however, I carry a folding bowl in the car for emergencies. Guye drank two bottles of bottled water as we traveled.

Guye recognized hamburgers and gobbled his right down .... another reason leading me to believe he came from a long haul truck.

With his stumpy little legs, gnarly toes and funny ears Guye is very much a minature version of Sadie. He has settled right in with the cats, is learning to eat dog food and has learned that we go away in the car and then we come back.

Guess we got a dog.

I cannot believe anyone might have purposefully left him at the truck stop, however I strongly encourage everyone who travels with a pet to be sure to check and be sure you have all your family in the vehicle before you continue your trip after a stop at road side rests or truck stops.

Such a sad picture of this dog, but with such a happy ending. I don't know how anyone could have abandoned him intentionally, if that was the case, that I could never understand. Glad he's found a loving home. Hugs, Elizabeth

Awww... the thought of those dear little legs not being able to jump right up and INSIST on being taken with his previous owner is heartbreaking, Molly... being height-deprived myself and leg-length challenged, I kinda know the feeling!! :)) What a happy ending to a most touching story. And you have made me thirsty, too! TY for this, Kate xx

Molly who wouldn't want to take this pup into their fold. Just the eyes alone, would have made me melt. Thnx sis, for being Guye's Angel of Mercy, on that fateful day. God does work in mysterious ways, His wonders to behold, and Guye is one of those wonders, who was just waiting for someone to take him home. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, maybe too stubborn for my own good, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS), your still very sad and very terrified little sister, Barbie

It was sooooo cruel for his Guye's previous owner to leave him behind. How can anyone to that something that represents part of the family. Pets have feelings too just like people.

Guye's is so lucky to be adopted by you and fit right into your family. You and your hubby are so kind and wonderful.

You are truly one of the 'good ones,' Molly, and Little Guye is very lucky to have met you and your hubby.

I just returned from a 3,000 mile road trip, and I was truly amazed at all the truckers who bring their tiny dogs along with them on their cross country treks. I also hate to think that that trucker dumped little Guye there on purpose.

But thank God you were there for him, he truly looks and sounds like a real sweetheart.

What a good heart you have. I have always loved dogs.
They love without condition -- how rare is that?
One of our Yorkies was rescuee of the year sometime
back. She is blind in one eye due to abuse. Doesn't
slow her down a bit!

My first dog, "Nippie" was the runt of a very
mixed litter. One of her back legs was crooked.
I nearly died when I lost her.

Thank you so much for posting this. What a pretty
boy Guye is. Hope he doesn't mind my saying
it. Our Nicky pretends to be macho...HA.
