the ancient rocks swirled and sculpted
etched and exposed
the temperature exceeds 100 degrees
the desert air is parched for moisture
a reptile world scurries and shuffles
throughout the red sand

i observe the arid part of ourselves
the stubborn nature that clings to thoughts
solitude in this vast desert ocean, the tides rolled back
to uncover our vulnerabilities
the patina rocks like giant black boards
of indigeneous messages of a hunting ground
and family abundant of communication

a valley of fire and no shadows cast
under the mid day sun
the sky so blue, the light intense
symbols of stone and sacred sites
the mind whirls and energy exchanged
self survival is required
life continues to reawaken
excitment builds of possibility
spirit renewed of intuition

the trading post thrives and keeps the peace
while fire water and fire sticks
are consumed in celebration
as a colorful release explodes in jubilation
acknowledging liberation
the future rises with every dawn
and the morning birds rally in song

and this spirit soars
knowing i've given up everything
to find my way to you
now only fleeting glimpses and precious moments
that linger, encouraging, building strength
igniting a spark that glows to feel you touch me
