Yesterday Ended. Stars.

Yesterday ended.
Tomorrow, the beginning. Stars.
A separate sheet of newness
wrapped around me silently.
And I was sleepy, sleepy.
Dark with darkness.

Then, like an electronic
megaphone
the pain pulsed through me
again.
Out of my fingertips
from behind my brain
from inside the muscles
of my thighs.
Aching, aching
as if my bones
were soft putty
and my spine
had no frame.

Brother why
is the world so hard for us
so bleak, so dark,
such emptiness?
We cry for the world to answer us

Our echoes scream themselves
back.

tell me that you're published. it would be most unjust to learn that you are not. each one of your poems is something extraordinary. particularly love the way this piece concludes (or doesn't, as the case may be). ty
