For my nephew, Jesse, who said ‘he made me do it,’ which didn’t impress my sister at all. Jesse and I have the same birthday and I give him a poem every year. He’s 6 so he doesn’t get too excited. Imagine if I gave him a copy of my book! Jaysus, he’d never hug me again! Ah, kids.

Penelope Pennyweather

Put a spell on me.

If I piddle outside

She giggles with glee.

When I write in my book

She turns me in.

I sassed the gym teacher,

Penelope wore a grin.

My mom told her mom

I was acting like a clown.

Penelope’s mom smiled,

My mom wore a frown.

I think her whole family

Has some kind of voodoo.

While Penelope is giggling

I’m going "boo-hoo."

I got Penelope back, yes I did.

I drank the "power juice" on her shelf.

Then I proudly marched out of her house.

I broke the spell by behaving myself.

Take that, Penelope!

Rufuz and I piddle on the same trees, we find the ones that are old and dying and give them life giving water specially made by our bladders...and if that kid don't laugh at you, take him over your knee and tickle him till he pukes, guaranteed he will laugh from then on...;) Ed & Rufuz

You're very lucky, Katydid, to have such a fine young nephew to write such a delightful birthday poem to, and to have such a friend as Penelope. When I piddle outside, Rebecca does not giggle with glee, darn it.
