Nature’s Eyes

Fingers of light spread through the leaves up above
Branches hung low where color ran rich
Standing tall, trees guarded their territory
The dense shadows of the forest were inviting

While clear waters ran wild down river
Heat from the sun scorched the rock beds
Fish flapped out of the cold water to catch the golden rays
Deer quietly appeared on the banks for a drink

Slowly night edges its self over the sky
Stars cool the rocks below
The steel arms of the moon
Hover on surrounding hills
