When a leaf does fall…

A falling leaf is a reminder,

Of better times past, when life was kinder,

Remember too that it does tell you,

Your presence is long overdue…

When a leaf does fall,

A thought of you is being recalled,

I know this for a fact as truth,

For I learned it quite easily in my youth…

When fall does upon us come,

Many leaves do fall,

To the coming of winter the trees do succumb,

Each and every leaf we do rake,

Is there for a memory just for our sake…

I especially like the rhymes in the last verse. But the entire work has an undenibly sweet lilt. Bravo!

Coming from someone who hates to rake leaves, this is a very beautiful poem, Ed. Falling leaves are the proof that life moves on, with or without us.
Take care,

I like you much better when you write in this manner. You have a lot to say, my friend, but sometimes you like to poke fun at yourself at the risk of making your persona clown-like, which isn't all bad. What I mean is that I really get into such a poem, it is enlightening and profound, to say the least.

I agree with Robert; this poem truly shines, my friend, and I love that graphic, too. Nature is your forte.
