The highest function of mind is its function of messenger.
D. H. Lawrence (1885–1930)
Mind
A mind not to be changed by place or time.
The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.
John Milton (1608–1674)

Thanks to the human heart by which we live, Thanks to its tenderness, its joys and fears, To me the meanest flower that blows can give Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.
William Wordsworth (1770–1850)
Language is called the garment of thought: however, it should rather be, language is the flesh-garment, the body, of thought.
Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881)
Pen Poised, thinking …
Thoughts rioting through my active mind So much to do and so little time What to write? What to say? I know not much Yet my thoughts do stray Humour and laughter Not my forte Politics and war I’ll keep away Hurts and sadness need an outlet Passion and love, can we forget? How many then can we pen? Within a heart that won’t end.
Poems that lay hidden From prying eyes Of love and romances Dying passions and lies
Laws of old that are carved in stone Rules which we were never shown Thoughts and memories you’ll continue to pen Stringing of words, again and again!

Keep on writing about love Elga. There are enough people writing about morbid subjects. Your poetry is like sunshine breaking through clouds. Beautiful expression.

These words are so true and apply to all writers,I guess it's just the nature of the beast but when it all comes together whether it be a poem, story, song or play it makes all the work worthwhile.

| Good thoughts and questions and in-depth searching of the soul. Ah, we poets and would-be poets have a hard row to hoe, do we not? Loved the thoughts behind the poem. |
