A Mothers War

As dark of night descends on the world

Under an inky and starless sky

She sits alone with an empty soul

As all alone she starts to cry

The folded flag upon her lap

Whats left of her treasured son

She grieved his loss at such a cost

Now that alls been said and done

She kissed the boy that went to war

They said he died a man away

Now only childhood memories mark

His passing day by day

His father died a broken heart

He could not bear the pain

She holds on and dreams at night

Of a world not gone insane

Sometimes though with her folded flag

On those inky and starless night

She kneels by a granite stone of gray

Remembering her little boy till morning light!

Dear Felix,

The power of a mothers' love. I feel an anger surge, death is finality, but in the name of "war" I can not and will NEVER accept this kind of human tragedy. To ease the pain, tell the mother he died a MAN !!! A heart wrenching write Felix.

I lost a child
fight in a war
one less wild
than my ancestors before
but I lost a child
I lost my grace
and those memories I filed
never to deface

this was an incrideble write Felix

awesome poem, Felix ... to lose a child must be unbearable especially during war ... a mother must ask, why?

How many more mothers will face this before we end war? A well written mesage that needs to be heard.

Very deep and emotion-filled write... that is a pain that only a mother can understand, but you helped us enter her grieving world... excellent

Can't bear it... my boys had "Enemy At The Gates" on last night - about the Battle of Stalingrad in the Second WW. Could only watch about ten minutes of it. What's even sadder is that this is not fiction. And that it still is going on on a daily basis. Have no answers - only pain for those most affected. Powerful and, as always, precisely executed (eugh!!) with a strong driving narrative. Bless you, Pops... if your big heart could only enfold all those who grieve, I know it would. LOL Kate xx
