In memory of George F. Patton (Jan 14, 1936-Aug 10, 2005) retired U.S. Air Force sergeant, beloved mate to Vanda Lee Patton, adored paterfamilias, treasured friend, and illuminated spiritual being.

The seed that grew this rose

formed long ago.

It was something like a pearl

that fell from Godís loving eyes

and planted itself deep inside

the mysteries of this chaotic world.

The roots made their own space

and spread out through love shared

between people common to our lives:

your son Moses and my sister Vera.

Blessed by angelic silence

and nurtured by ancient wisdom

the seedling stem of this sky blue rose

broke through dirt and concrete

like a revelation foretold

breaking through the ignorance

of those too blind to see

and those too afraid to hear.

Then came the pain of thorns

produced from bitter experience.

And the unfoldment of elegant green leaves

developed out of secret knowledge

and the clear spiritual vision

of a humble dreaming prophet.

That we are able to honor

and share with one another

the bright pieces of heaven inside us

is what makes the rose

of this sacred kinship blossom all year round.

It is what anoints our lives in a holy way

with this rose oil perfume

of sweet grace, good faith, and enduring love.

Thanks, thanks thanks for finding my works here and commenting. Now I wanted to write about something using 'rose' as a metaphor and look at what I found 'rose' used here in a wonderful way. The context I am going to use 'rose' is a different one. Still it is a conincidence I love a lot.
Lovely poem and like the previous commentator said.... love the language and of course the way you depicted the idea.

love the language expression here, how simply you put these eternal truths. the metaphor of the rose for a friendship grown and tested through life's bounteous beauty, trials and tribulations. definitely a sublime tribute to somebody in your life whom, i'm sure, deserves every word of it. Blessings, Poet. ~1

Who else could gift a Blue Rose to a Sergeant of the US Air Forces?

I can only stutteringly repeat the well-chosen words of those who have commented... whatever you write, whether the substance of poetry or the encouragement of review, it is as if the gift of speech has been created for the very first time to awaken our senses to the wonder of communication that is all at once involving of the whole of the material, physical and supernatural worlds. Words are given fresh meaning with your voice and vision and reach us on every conceivable plane to create a holistic experience.

This tribute not only honours this great man's passing, but is the oil which perfumes and eases his passage for those who remain. What a gift!

Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

How do you do it? I've never read any of your work and been left with anything but a deep sense of awe - the same sense I get when I observe the rising of the dawn. You are a true poet Aberjhani. I've missed your work in my absence but will be doing catch up soon.

A Blue Rose has always been for me a symbol of impossibles possible. A rare, for many utopian, flower, with a gently divine quality that makes sky-hued petals suddenly bloom, in full glory, even from rocks... or "dirt and concrete". A reverent, exquisitely felt and expressed tribute to a genuine Blue Rose, dear Poet. Thank you.
Many blessings of Love&Light*

Limbered up the pangs of my heart with this one. (If that doesn't sound coherent, I can't help it, it's how I feel.) Once again, my friend (rhyme, whadda ya know) you have put grace to paper, rather screen. You have the wonderful technique of putting down whord that makes for good poetry, but you say it in such a way as to befuddle the rest of us damned amateurs out here becsuse we can't reach quite that far up the literary stratosphere.
