He's no Jonathan Livingston Seagull
but his Grandmother knows him well.
He's a goose and a young gander
surviving his first week in spring
learning to fly and living by his own will
Still, he has much to learn
his wings gossamer thin and pale
struggling, striving, stricken
weak, experiencing different waters
it's a week he'll always remember.
