A lesson well learned.
Photograph taken by, Theresa Jodray

I could not go to you again nor stand the dreadful pain
of loving and loosing, as before.
I'd rather ask those who pass your door!

"How is he now, does he look well today?
Is his hair still blond, or streaked with grey?"

They answered all my questions gladly,
then one day came much to sadly.

"Is something the matter? He is not ill?"
They did not answer stood so still!

"Please tell me someone, what has he done!
He hasn't been having to much fun?
You look as though he might have wed!"

"What's that you say-NO! He can't be dead!!"
That can not be, it must not be!!
Why just this noon a letter came from him to me.
Telling me that he's come to my side.
That we must forget all this foolish pride.

May you rest in peace my beloved one,
until the Angels say to me, your day is done.

Then I will hurry to your side!
Forever we will forget that foolish pride!

Great write. To loose someone is to learn the lesson how silly pride can truly be.

Haunting Theresa - both the poem and pic!! Some people though, either alive or passed, always want to get the last word in - foolish pride - isn't that one of the deadly sins? This was very thought provoking! Loved it!
