For Eileen for sharing her autumn with me!

Autumn in the country
All the beautiful colors unfold
Its almost as if nature
is bending to whisper in my ear
Behold, God is near

Bright blues to the softest
colors of gold
hues of violet, reds and yellow
smell of pines along my way
make my travel smell so
sweet and mellow

The tiny trickle of a nearby creek
Dew drops off the cotton wood trees
grass, damp beneath my feet
all add splendor to my secrete retreat
sounds of a horse nicker
as he clomps along behind my feet

I wander through the woods
sounds of whippoorwill
blessing me with his song
taking me back to days long since gone
blue birds, robins, and wood peckers
mark my steps
I stop to hear their music
Look up to see their nest
There will be babies there
again come spring
Such beauty in all I see
Makes me want to stop
and Sing
"Thank God, I'm a Country boy"
In my case a girl
but you know what I'm trying to say!
God, its so good to be alive today!

I have so many blessings
so much to make my spirit sing
There is life around me in all I see
No buildings looking back at me
no crowds to block my passage
Just tall oak trees
swaying gently with the autumn breeze

Thank You Lord, for such splendor
I pray that all this beauty
is here to stay
for others to enjoy
each and every day

You took me on that walk with you, Tina. This is such a pretty write about my favorite season. I am ready for the crisp chill to arrive and the smell of the dieing leaves. I will miss my animal friends come winter, but I know that they will all be coming home with the spring.
Take care,

Wonderful poem. Vividly expressed. thanks for letting me walk there with you.

(i live in South TEXAS...Autumn misses us...we go from HOT Summer right to Rain soaked Winter. Our trees don't change colors...they just drop.)
