The massive destruction of a beautiful City.

New Orleans! New Orleans ! I feel for you  !  What a disaster ! It boggles  my mind at the magnitude of destruction of the "devil winds!"
I speak of that  dreadful Hurricane "Katrina" that came and washed you away in those three agonizing days, swiftly sweeping all before it in it's deadly fury, and leaving behind dreadful sorrow, pain, death and destruction in it's wake.
I speak of you, Innocent City, with your beautiful historic buildings, French Quarters, and swinging music,
You, the "Big Easy"as you were so fondly named, known for your "Mardi Gras", "Superdome" ,Jazz music and friendly people.,
You were so peaceful and picturesque!, Gaudy and Bright !
Until that fateful day when the cold, indifferent winds came and wash you away without warning and transforming  you , a once vibrant city , full of life, into a wretched, twisted city of pain and sorrow, leaving death and destruction in its angry wake.
How cruel and unkind Nature can be, Why did it had to happen to you? O beautiful New Orleans , Why?

.We may never know the answer!

Now you will have to pick up the pieces and rebuild  your self, and like the phoenix  rise again from the ashes,

O' New Orleans ! New Orleans ! I feel for you
Be Brave ! Be Bold ! and you will rise again!

Yes, I say , you will rise again !

Michael,

One of the best post-Katrina poems I have ever written. I used to live north of Lake Ponchartrain, so N'Awlins holds a special place in my heart. Well done, Poet.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
