Man is protected by laws and laws are protected by a government. Man's life must be governed by certain laws otherwise he would just live like other animals.

In the good old days
We had indigenous weapons
We had bows and arrows
We had spears and axes
We had sticks and machetes
We knew how to control them
We all carried weapons of same nature
Only the quality of fighters differed

When tribes fought
They had a limit to go
They never killed everybody
Women and children were respected
The elders were not killed either
Nor were they taken as Prisons of war
They were spared from the spear
They were regarded as non combatants
The tribes knew how to handle disputes
They had effective customary laws

In these days of modern technology
An alien weapon intruded our lands
Its name is GUN.
Whether small or big it is dangerous
It spits fire with just a single touch
It broke the balance of fire possession
It destroyed the cultural ethics of war
It must be in the custody of a government

But we have no government in place
No one registers its entry and sales
No one monitors its use and circulation
No one is responsible of our security
We live in Somalia at our own risk

Dear Abdi, in the old days the tribes were considered savages by those who tell HIS-STORY, if that is true then what must those be who brought the gun which kills everyone. I am beginning to wonder if we really deserve to live on this planet that we have corrupted and are killing. Peace love, and blessings dear brother. Stay strong. I am struggling to be able to recognize the sane amongst us. Mikii

It is sad to live in a place where the ones in charge are the ones with the best weapons. A gun does not make a leader, and in the wrong hands it can make them nothing more than an uncaring murderer. Strong and potent write.
Take care,

Whatever the reasons Abdi Noor, I pray your country will soon find a leader that will govern with justice and hope. It is still everyones responsibility to become educated. That would make a huge difference.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue to be a force for good to your country and its people!

Your poetry means so much, it is a gift.

This poem inspires and stimulates the heart of Justice.
"AT OWN RISK" is a profound alert; and also a reminder.

WASN'T SOMALIA THE COUNTRY THAT THE DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY,
(Or was it PLUTOCRACY, under the united allies for degradation
of human being?)went to stop the local Muslim Warlords' fight,
and defend the human rights? Perhaps "General", the former
Secretary of State, could answer to that. (People don't remember
what they ate yesterday.)

I enjoyed the reading of "AT OWN RISK".

I salute You, Poet!

It's bad when government does not put the control of guns and weapons. Hope things will change for the better soon.
