By Robert Humphrey

There are no human terms to describe

The beauty I behold on this horizon.

The pain of life is gone.

The frailty of mortality is no more.

I see as I have never seen before,

Looking upon the incomprehensible majesties

Of a creation beyond the scribe’s wildest dreams.

This is Heaven.

I recognize parts of it from somewhere in distant memory,

But most of it is new with the ever-dawning sun.

There is a clarity here I could never conceive

While shackled to the cares of the former life.

Beauty and order unimaginable prevail

In sharp contrast to the devastation I left behind.

How brief the life of sorrow,

The impossible challenges wrought upon the living.

How incredibly moot it all seems now

As I ponder this new, this never-ending bliss

That perplexed the wisest of earthly men

Leaving them without words, exasperated,

And void of explanation.

This is Heaven.

Larger.  Brighter.  Every sense now emboldened

To drink in the immeasurable expanse

As the mind only begins to comprehend

The meaning of Eternity,

The never-ending joy,

The Second Morning.
