"Not knowing what lies ahead can be fun"

A Brand New Unknown Day

Nine in the morning and St. John's bells ring
My absentee ballot hangs from my box
The ravens are elsewhere the sparrows sing
And hens in the henhouse outfox the fox
This seems as good a time as any to
Take up my pencil and write this for you

No matter how grumpy or negative
One is even poor and alone like me
Morning like this is a good time to live
One must admit and anyone can see
It is better to be alive than dead
On the bright side the right side of the tomb

Although I never know what lies ahead
Not knowing what lies ahead can be fun
I am having tea here in my front room
Writing poetry with my cat on me
A brand new unknown day has just begun
And I can find no reason to complain

Physics over metaphysics today
Philosophy tries in vain to explain
Psychology drains all the blood away
Theology then weeps away the stain
I just want to go for a walk and see
The pretty ladies check me out and smile

To celebrate existence for awhile

Just such a fine write. My granddaugher Shannon is in college to be a vet, but she has 8 years of schooling ahead but that does not stop her from checking the boys out either. Mother says no going to Phila on a trip with one, and his mother won't let him use the car, so they are not all the time happy.

I have always thought of a brand new day as a clean slate. A chance to 'start over'. I love mornings , with the whole day ahead, uncharted and just waiting for me. Excellent poetry!

Many blessings,

"To celebrate existence for awhile"

Boy do I know how that feels. Steven, I don't always review or even read all the poetry that the people I'm tracking write, but I always make a point of reading yours, and it is always insightful, and, honestly, you mean quite a bit to me as well. You have served as my inspiration on many occasions. I write differently than you do, sure, but I think we both write about very important subject matter, and I believe we both have an important message to bring to the world. Keep on writing my friend, I can't wait to see what else you have to share.

There is no better feeling in the world than life. The problem is that so many people, even though they are on the right side of the tomb, don't understand the gift of being alive. So for them, a brand new day spells another day of waiting to die.

Excellent poem Steven. I've missed reading you. ~ Sara
