I had to make a very hard dicision a few weeks ago...to let my best friend and companion go from here in as much peace and as painless as possible...

He was small yet hardy and true ,
This little friend of mine.
No, more than friend,my child,
This small and furry soul.
But time had taken its due,
And on our health does dine,
And thus it wore down this spirit mild,
Until he was no longer whole.
While many will say he was but a dog,
I will counter clear he was much more,
And his loss takes away joy,
And his loss alters the course of mine.
And in this warped and alien fog,
Where my heart is rended to the core,
I find that I cannot employ,
All that would make it fine.
Lost my dear friend,
Lost my kindred soul,
Lost my close abiding one,
And now to other end,
To other places dole,
Another place begun.
Farewell to you my little chum,
Farewell to all those byegone days,
And may you find a peace in some,
Where past this existence lays.

Goodbye to my little Walter...friend and companion these past ten years...

This is very sad but a fine tribute to your little friend, James. Your verses touch the soul of the reader. Love and peace to you,

James there is nothing sadder than losing a dear pet and companion. It took me a year to get over the loss of my dog nips and I've never been able to replace him. Had him 14 years. So I offer you my warmest regards and understanding for what this loss means to you. The only good in it is that we have the memory of being fortunate to have such a fine pet. Peace and Light to you...
