I Walk the Line

Hemp, the controversial
plant called
cannabis,

toke
a few
hours of
bliss.

Makes rope
and
twine,

I love Cabernet
wine.

Cannabis produces
the toughest cloth
called canvass,
widely used as
sails in the
early shipping
industry.

The only cloth
that does not
rot on contact
with spray of
sea,

I like peyote
tea.

Save a
tree,
environmentalists
say use hemp for
paper,

see the vision
in the smoke
vapor.

The first Levi
blue jeans were
made from
hemp.

Marijuana,
Mexican slang
in the 1930s
known as the
Reefer Madness
Movement, the
medicinal part
of cannabis which
Mexican soldiers
smoked.

I walk the line
with Johnny Cash
and Mary Jane,

Operations is
sending Rainy Cain!

I don't smoke so missed out on drugs, but have no objection to people getting high. It might be heaven by the back door, but maybe my love of music is, too. Keeping a close watch on these poems of yours.... :-)

I'd love to walk the line with you literally. I hope I do spiritually. For those who don't already know, this is an educational piece, Sage; and it is worthy of being expressed again. Thank you for this offering. Love and peace.

There is no shame at all in your expression and i admire that about you. As writers we are so free and free enough to write about anything. Another pleasure, Aleja bennett

the indians utilized cannabis as a hemp product and also smoked it during festive events and spiritual gatherings ... they lived long lives, were spiritually evolved and mainatined balance with nature ... a lesson to be learned? too bad the white man only drank alcohol, perhaps things would be different ...

there's a tale im told via respectable sources that here on the yorkshire moors & north when hemp & flax were manafuctered in the textile mills, it was the whisky distillerys that were illegal & who would conceal their hideouts in these plantations. on one such occasion when a force of police plodding on foot through these hectares discovered a hideout distillery with its inmate dead but whose body was perfectly preserved after six months. the allusion being that was why he was discovered, the quality of the home brew whisky, the pure cold & of course the fine hemp forests, im sure he slept on a bed of cones too. saludos
