The Christmas Star


High atop the Christmas tree

A star glows shiny-bright

Reminding of the one that shone

On that cold and Holy night


In a humble stall in Bethlehem

From The Virgin was His birth

The Son of God, a gift of love

For the people of the earth


He lay upon a heap of straw

Placed in an old cow trough

Our Infant King slept peacefully

Wrapped in a swaddling cloth


Amid starry night an angelís song

Rang softly through the stall

Child shivering from the cold

But not a tear from Him did fall


The animals did honor Him

They slept close by His side

Camel, donkey, ox and lamb

In peace all did abide


Kings and Sages traveled long

Bearing finest gifts and gold

To lay before the tiny babe

This miracle to behold


The star did shine night and day

It kept the manger bright

Christ the Lord, the Son was born

Beneath its holy light

Very nice scene-setting, Sherry. I've been to a few nativity and paradise plays this last week and saw many an infant Jesus and foot-sore Joseph and Mary, no room at the inn for them. but three wise men on their trail, and the greatest story ever told about to unfold. Should be set to music and become a contemporary "classic" carol, Sherry. Would love to sing it... would love to write a tune to it... but am sadly lacking in the composition stakes.... which is a shame, because I can remember lying in bed as a 7 year-old and composing hymns to the "old tunes" in my head. TY for this new "tradition" that you've written here! May the "tradition" of peace, goodwill and joy rest upon your household this Christmastime, and many thanks for your love and support in all ways this year. K xx

There is a definitive feel about this Christmas I sense too !...Something's in the air !
And your beautifully simple rendition of Christmas and its utter spirituality, steals the breath away Sherry.

A wonderful poem reflecting on the reason for the season when the Christ child was born. A story that will be told until the end of time and no one will have said it better than you have in this classic Christmas Poem. Merry Christmas Sherry.
