New Year Thoughts


It will soon be the end of another year,
in a cloud of what the new year will bring,
celebrating and shouting with a loud cheer,
I wonder, in it’s passing, did we learn a thing.

Sadly, it seems in life, we just keep repeating,
making the same mistakes along the way,
yesterday’s dreams gone, we take a beating,
never appreciating the beauty of a new day.

This year, it is going to be different than before,
for I have a new year resolution on my mind,
each day I will try to open at least one new door,
so much to experience, before I run out of time.

There is a lot in this world for me to see,
many faces of whom I could call friends,
so much more that I, myself, could be,
I need to find myself before the very end.

This year when I say happy New Year to you,
it will come from my heart for you to embrace,
as my spirit soars like an eagle in the sky of blue,
memories that won’t disappear without a trace.
