such is youth
that you swear undying devotion
Yet blog of your current affair
As if I were but a blind man rapping
on your door with my beggar's bowl
Unaware of the warmth rising from just inside the doorway, a warmth you feel a need to keep hidden, spirited away and locked inside a china closet where it will remain forever safe from prying eyes. This love affair is your darkest and deepest secret and I shall let you have it for such is youth and I have always known and perhaps even feared this day would come

such is age
that when he leaves you
I will have forgotten
that there is any warmth
between us
