Moment Shmoment

I’m finally learning to live in the moment
but today is a dreary day
It’s too cold to go out roaming
so I’ll look out at the gray

I can’t think of Tuesday’s gift
when the weather was balmy with sun
If I thought of tomorrow, I’d get a lift
Living in the moment seems dumb

The Bible says today is today
and it will take care of itself.
Not to worry what comes my way
but tomorrow’s sun surely will help

Maybe I misunderstood my shrink
when she said to live for today
Maybe she didn’t mean not to think
Bye bye, my mind’s going away.

If there's one thing I feel I need to learn, it is to "live in the moment." Powerful write, Janet. Thank you for sharing it. Happy New Year with love and peace,

Regis

an outstanding write Janet
Start the New Year with Fresh thoughts
they seem to just roll into one's mind
As far as tomorrow, once the sun riases
it's another today, not a tomorrow,
(just my way of thinking)
Happy New Year, to you and your family

Sounds like you've been Shrink-wrapped, Janet... they spend the whole hour listening (but of course, in my case! :)) and then come out with some pithy statement of idea that keeps your mind churning over for the whole of the intervening time until you see them again... thereby LOSING the moment completely! True, now is all we've got, but I tend to be such a bad governor of moment; either I'm hairless with time pressure or, the minute there is a second's window, I'm depressed and lethargic as if the whole world has ground to a halt, never to revolve again (see EdKs poem!). I don't think pace is a word in the Burnside dictionary... comes up as puce all the time, but then that's just the blood pressure. Maybe our New Year's Resolution ought to be to get this sorted. A very PEACEFUL and ring-fenced New Year to you and yours, Janet... while you sneek a peek at what's ahead! Enjoy! LOL K xx

Maybe your shrink should have said, "Make the BEST you can out of the moment." Cheer up, Janet, it could be worse.

This is cute.....living for the moment isn't always as easy as people (especially shrinks!) tell you it is. We get caught up in our past and our expectations of tomorrow and being "THERE" right now is tough. May all your "moments" be happy ones Janet as we creep towards 2006!! Hugs my friend.

I can relate;-) Love this poem and its title! Sometimes all the goodie, nice, adage, can go take a hike, we just want to feel whatever we want with no outside advice;-) Happy New Year Janet!
Love,
Eileen
