This is the last one for this year. It's no masterpiece. It's just for fun.

Ordinary Man

Cool river, cold mojitos, an early Friday night,
Watch those fireflies jive, moon the hot spotlight.

Argue questions with no answers
Until rhyme makes no sense,
Don’t matter if it’s wrong,
As long as what was, is past tense.

Backlit conversation, who said what, when, to whom,
No! Really? They’re back together so soon?
Never would believe it, I saw her leave his room…

Belly up when the sun goes down,
Light one more cigarette.
Come on… drink another,
It’s not time to go back home yet.

Rumrunner fever in an old Hill Country bar,
Nachos and beer will get you pretty far
At the place by the river, everyone’s a star.

There’s enough to go around, now
Take a load off your feet.
We’ll order a pitcher
When the sun sets, pull up a seat.

It’s football this, pickups that, waitress, c’mere, please.
Shake it up, baby; give a little tease.
The party’s on now, friends, why wait for New Year’s Eve?

All last bets are on the table,
Hole card’s are close at hand.
Make room for your money,
Grab a chair! Join us if you can.

Just weekend fun before we start the grind again
Spend some time with the ordinary man.

The aura in which you deliver this one is excellent.

Aha! I remember that place by the river in the Hill Country! Down the road a piece from where I used to live. Thanks for the memories.
