In the spring of our lives we met, You and I,

Since then I wondered about the how and why;

The unfathomable mystery

That bonded You and I into We.

Was it a spark in your eyes, touch of your hair,

An electric current that flew through the air,

A smile, a scent, a moment’s magic?

All pondering is academic…

We travelled a long road; it was a tough ride,

We journeyed together, always side by side,

Two souls united, husband and wife…

…We’re now in the autumn of our life.

Soon winter will descend, our eyes will be closed,

We shall be dreaming with our bodies reposed,

‘bout the perpetual mystery,

That bonded You and I into We.

And in that other world where all dreams shall end,

Where space and time into infinity blend,

We will be at peace and unity,

Resting in bliss till eternity…

Together… forever… You n’ I: We…

At the request and suggestion of Kay Devenish I added the last line

post factum to the poem and I thank her for her kind suggestion.

Beautiful, this really touched me deeply and tugged my heartstrings making me feel warm and happy.
Bless you both always.
Peter, your poem is truly perfect as is but after see your lovely photos above the poem and after being touched so by it I dare to add that I would love you to add a new line to the end of your poem which simply would incorporate the heading of it again...(sort of)
just after the last line:
'Resting in bliss till eternity…'
