There's nothing that replaces
a Mother's love,
Nothing except, Jesus love.
Sent to us all,
a wonderful gift from above.
Mom's smile was warm and gentle,
Her eyes saw it all.
Her arms were always ready to hug.
Mom, a special Angel sent from above!
She was there each time I was injured
and,
each time I grew sick.
Always cheering me up
with some silly song or trick.
From all the late night feedings
and later,
all my late nights out,
Mom was always there waiting
to give her all.
Mom's last words at night
was a call down the hall;
"I love you honey, sleep tight,
don't let those bed bugs bite"
All that said,
after we had said our prayer
("Here you lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul
to keep,
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
If I should live another day,
I pray the Lord
to guide my way")
We never missed that prayer
not even one night.
The Lords prayer
was next in line.
Somehow, they blessed my life
because,
I knew Jesus was mine!
I would lay there on my back
drifting off with a smile,
mumbling back a sleepy
"I love you too"
feeling warm and safe,
seeing my Mom's and Jesus face.
Long years have passed now.
I still say our prayers,
even said them with my son's
as they grew up.
I hope it left them in a
warm safe place.
Now, after my prayers;
I always remember to say softly
to Mom,
good-night, may the Lord wait
to see you face to face,
and always keep you safe!
