A Mothers love comes from above and come's sometimes in the form of a Grandmother.
I came to her when she was 47
Her own children grown
the first child of her youngest son....

Grandma's love was something else

I don't think she ever though of herself first

It was so deep and even now

her memory has faded

and she sometimes doesn't remember

my name

I still see love

shining in her eyes.

A baby girl sick with pheumonia

she took me in

at 10 days old

her 47

some said, "to old"

All those late night feedings

must have been hard on her

getting up at dawn

to hicth-hike

to work by eight

She cleaned a bank

and later motel rooms

Did all she had to,

to make ends meet

Made sure there was always

shoes, clothes, and food to eat.

If times got tough

it wasn't past her to walk for miles

picking up pop bottles

to soothe the way

untill her next payday!

I know as I grew older

I gave her many a worried night

But I guess thats just kids

not always thinking about what's right

Through it all

she never gave up

she even held me tight

after terrible fights

I thought that the greatest gift she had gave

was taking me in....

but now I know,

It was her gift of

Through those she taught me

how to be a Mother

I strive to be

and let my son's see

the influence

that my Grandmother

had on me.

It was her Love that saved me!

As a doting grandfather of two little girls this one touches my heart that this woman could love so much and mean so much obviously to you because of it. Great tribute to a special lady.

How splendid that God blessed you with her to care for you! It isn't until we have children ourselves that we can appreciate all they do for us. This is a beautifully written tribute to your precious grandmother Tina!

A grandmother's love truly is a wondrous thing, Tina. I grew up very luckily with both of my grandmothers living in the same building with us, and although they've been gone many years now, I, too, owe them a huge debt of gratitude for their undying love.
