I miss my kids and tonight wrote this while thinking about them.

Tonight I wept for my children
as I tracked memories
as indelible as fossil in rock.
Tracing my heart's blood
through the veins of time.
Those bonds that take me
to another place
to a past time.
Little fingers entwined in mine
Sleepy lashes upon soft cheeks.
Baby scent inhaled deep
Smiles, Gurgles, chuckles
First words
Shaky steps
Milestones reached
All those proud moments
captured on film
Gone? I don't know.
Perhaps the negatives
exist only in my mind.

So Sweet Chanti~ So Sweet and innocent as a child's love and heart is! YOu wrote from memory so clearly defined! Right to the last line! I hope very soon, more memories with you, will be made! Then happiness again will fill your heart more completely! Love and Light! WArmly *She* :)

Beautiful poem evocative of parenthood. The last four lines can be improved.Particularly the words "film" and "negatives" that have different connotations in various parts of the English-speaking world. More power to your pen, Chanti.

I like this expression Chanti, nice poem. As far as using "alone" in the ending of my poem goes, I thought about that when I wrote it, alone doesn't fit what I was expressing personally. You see back some years ago when I was hating family, friends and others I did feel gone because of how I felt at the time. Family and friends who owed me money and wouldn't pay up, along with the bad attitudes, I felt like hurting them. Anytime you hurt another person you're as good as gone, not alone. Assault and murder is jail time offenses. I never felt like killing no one but I did want to beat some butt. Difference in then and now is maturity, if we learn to be more loving and understanding with people we are a lot better off. One of my family members who still owes me money, now I just hug him every now and then because I feel better still loving him than trying to hurt him, which actually protects me. Love isn't always about the other person. I understand that he has problems probably worst than mine, so I back off instead of pushing. So I'll leave your suggestion and say thanks for the review

Beautiful Chanti! Memories somehow are negatives
aren't they. Your love for your children though
is strong and will always be.

AS always your poetry is precious cause it comes directly from your heart and expresses no only your feelings but a lot of the readers as well. As for the topic, those memories will come alive when you someday once again (perhaps a grandchild) in your loving arms.Sweet dreams Chanti and thinkin of you often...
