Your car has no wheels and the engine is not functioning but you are wasting your time fixing its doors and window glasses. Do you think you can reach anywhere with this mentality?

Be a man
Be a woman
Be a personality

Be a family
Be community
Be a nation

Be a country
Be a state
be a government

Put laws in place
Protect humanity
Preserve culture

In the horizon of knowledge
Set a strategy of development
See progress in the eyes of peace

Allow business to grow and flourish
Let service delivery systems improve
Build life upon the basis of reality

Privatization is one way forward
But without a functional government
Culture of business is just a mess

Somalia is a typical war-torn nation
It has no potential national goals
Companies exploit beyond imagination

Yet people speak of achievements
Of hospitals and schools opened
Of media and rights of the people

They sit inside a derailed train
They hope to reach somewhere soon
What an illusion!

Good morning, Abdi-Noor,
I find it increasingly frustrating that people see the problems but take no steps toward finding a viable solution to those problems. It is like they are waiting for a fairy godmother to wave her magic wand and suddenly everything will be perfect. We each need to work toward a better world if we ever expect to have one. That is the bottom line and you have stated this so very clearly in this excellent poem. This poem should appear on the front page of every newspaper in Somalia as well as most developed Western countries. Apathy seems to be the disease that is destroying our world.
Take care,
Sherry

Things go so slow when waiting for a country to become a viable force for its people. I pray all the best for you, your family and your country, Abdi Noor!
