A new set of lyrics, based upon a request from a guitar player for his latest album. He gave his story and I put it to verse. I hope you like it.

(Talking Lead-In)

I got a secret that so really hard to share

It Ďs hard to hear, and it just ainít fair
I done found out mama lied to me
I was born in (cough, sputter) New Jer-See

A red, white and blue Texan bred but not born
donít want your pity, sure donít need your scorn
Rearíd on twanging guitars, tex-mex and lone star beer
Raised Texas proud Iím gonna live and die right here

Like a passel of others, got here soon as I could
Hereís some advice for folks facing parenthood
Donít stigmatize your kids come to Texas
Birthíem here, do them this little kindness

They will be forever grateful to be born here
Texas is the place to be cuz it has no peer
The Alamo, Longhorns, lone star beer
and Texas women these things we hold dear

(Repeat Chorus)

I know why Mama lied it was a matter of pride
She raised me Texas proud that fact canít be denied
Thereís proud Texans and plenty of want-to-beís
So all yíall who ainít here yet you have my sympathies

(Repeat Lyrics)
