To love denied...

The Jesterís Take on Romance

I could gently touch my fingertips

To the ones on your own hand

I could perhaps make it happen

Make the world somehow understand

If my lips could touch your brazenly

Feel the erotic pressure two on two

I know I could make a dream alive

A dream of love for me itís true

I could touch your heavenly body

As I have only touched your mind

I would know a taste of paradise

One I never thought in this life Iíd find

I could feel your sweet breath on my neck

As you slept in my true loveís embrace

Iíd know thereís such a thing as magic

Though filigreed like fancy lace

Ah but life forbids the extravagance

Of the perfect way things ought to be

Thereís a jester in the scheme of things

Who has no use for me!

we naughty jesters bounce and trounce causing all sorts of mishievious glee for ourselves, but forget the heartaches rendered in others

After the cold ride I just went on with you; then I read this romantic, warm (dare I say hot?) poem with a touch of humor that I hope does not hurt. A romantic sailor? A sailing romantic? God bless you for another Valentine. We chicks need them at this time of the year!!!! Love from Meredith

Sigh...that old trickster, he laughs behind the curtain. "...making my entrance with my usual flair, sure of my lines, no one is there"
But in dreams all is ours. Fine write!

There's a bit o' Valentine's Day in the air at AD! All these romantic writes has my muse gettin' all mushy!
You do them quite well though Felix and each one can be felt in the heart. Ah the jesters will never bring you down.
Another good one!

This is wonderful, the end feels a bit Shakespearean, i like that, also the part about the lace is top notch, it gives a gentleness to this poem as well as the effect of veiled feelings, excellent work.

I wish we could all have what we wanted in life - but then, where's the challenge? This is a lovely write of longing, and longing is something we can all identify with. Thanks for sharing. Love the reference to the jester of life!
