When the Time Comes

I know there will come the time; Oh that
moment when the book has ended-
When the words only reach half the page-
and the blanks are filled with silent sighs-
When memories are left to those that
remain behind-
When all the sadness in tragedy has
truly lost its powers to make me weep-
I know that time will come

I know there will come the time; When my
prayers I'll place upon His lap-
When I can lean to either side, and touch
his nail scarred hands-
When the hem of His robe, brushes against
my feet as we walk side by side-
When I can see with mine own eyes; the
purity in the spirit of His love-
I know that time will come

I know there will come the time; When I'll
walk no more in shadows of death-
When I'll sit at His table, and feast on
the fruits so sweet and divine-
When the wine once bitter will quench my
thirst for eternity-
When I can feed from my palm the creatures
of wild intentions-
When I will fear no more; Worry no more;
Labor no more;
I know that time will come

I know there will come the time; When the book
of life will be opened before me-
Read by His own soft and gentle voice-
When my name will be found in ancient scripts; When
the final roll is called through yonder skies-
When the pains of my earthly body will fade to dust;
I know that time will come; When I'll rest
forever in His everlasting arms

Haven't read anything better than this as we all wait for the day when He will caress us for all eternity. I hope my name is written in that book also.

This poem touches the heart, Lisa. The understanding that there is something better awaiting us, in a place where we will be re-joined with those we have missed so much while traveling this earthly pathway, brings comfort to the soul. To know that the peace of His embrace will be ours, takes away the sting of leaving those, here, with whom we have created such a tight human bond. We are all pilgrims here, trying to bring something better to this world of petty differences. Our footsteps change the earth but we all know that this is not our Home, we are but visitors here for a short time. Wonderful poetry, Lisa, penned with the graceful words that only you know and left as soft footprints upon the souls of all who read them.
Take care,
Sherry
