It’s been only one day…

since silence fell between us.
something we said
would never happen—

we went our different ways
like the flip of a switch

on one minute
                            off the next.

But this felt different
more like attending
your own funeral—

where there are no flowers
and no one attends

and the music played
is on a borrowed violin.

And for some reason
the only thing that is allowed
to run free, truly free
is a thought….

         what happen to the promise?

promise. So much emotion in this
piece, Tracey.

Tracey,

Many hearts have been broken by unfulfilled promises. Very sad, effective and to the point. Well written, my friend.
