I am this tree
gnarly and knotted
scarred through and spotted
longing to be
beautiful again.

This tree is me
stripped of spring glory
strong in this story
waiting to see
my summer friend
his ear to bend
before last sunset.

So many outstanding lines comprise a beautiful tree. Yes, Dawn, you've become the tree, and made us enjoy your foliage. Well done, Poet, friend, well done!
