Just Remember Who You Are

" There's No Fool, Like An Old Fool ".

..................................................................

Never forget where you sprang from

Always remember just who you are

Its so easy to lose track of your identity

Amidst the hurly burly of life

Your name is essentially important

It designates you as a unique individual

And you carry it wherever you go

So when your pilgrimage is over

It will be the only reminder of you

So take great care of your reputation

As history will document your worth

And all your deeds and actions

Will be there for all to see

So make sure your lasting legacy

Is one of an enduring and refined kind

Spread the milk of human kindness

Thickly and evenly on either side

And people will always recall you

From the very bottom of their heart

Give of yourself freely and easily

And be prepared to go that extra mile

It will be to your credit in the end

For you will have become

Another link in the saint's chain

That stretches from here to eternity

I recognise that doorway, looks very familar, would love to know where it is Peter. This is a profoundly sagacious write my friend.

very nice,

My boyfriend and I were just talking about this the other day. That a person that follows the beat of their own drum is remembered and gains immortality.

Oh so true! This reminds me of my father, whose legacy I have tried to live up to, for he was a saint in my eyes. Oh he had his faults but was a man of integrity. I concur with Michelle. A very fine write, Peter. Thank you...

I loved this, the meaning is so great- i loved the part about the saints, it is true that people do not realize that they are saints in their everyday lives. Great poem.

"Your name is essentially important

Peter, this resonates with my Legend of the Quail posted in my den about the power of what's in a name. I love this write. It gives one a sense of identity. I will be trimming back my reviews, as business related commitments are many right now for me. I have also been sent two professional works from professional authors here on Authors Den to read and give professional reviews to, one author's work, a finished novel, the other a manuscript ready for publishing. It is all very time-consuming and I am right now reviewing the galleys of my next novel out hopefully sometime this month, which takes 16-hour days. So I will be back to reviewing Authors Den poets in a month or so. Please know that I will still be reading you. Please read my interview with editor Sara Russell from Poetry Life & Times which goes live at around 6 p.m. tonight. Thanks always for the daily inspiration Peter. Love and Peace.
