"You Can Never Turn the Clock Back "

...........................................................

If it's wrong to long for lost love
Then I'm as wrong as I can be
You say it's foolish, and that may be true
But it sure seems right to me

She offered me true love
That I'd never known
I saw the door to heaven
And just walked through.

And you say you'd be different
If this happened to you
But with heaven at your fingertips
I wonder what would you do

If to have love remain in your heart

For someone you once cherished

Is deemed contrary to all known laws

Then I'll run counter clockwise all my life

For I know she was the best thing

That's ever happened to me

I can live with all the consequences

Of keeping a little piece of her

Rivetted way down inside my soul

Thats the essence of us, that will never die

It can never be erased, or dissected in two

For when you love like we did

You can never say goodbye

Because goodbye is a dirty word

That just should never be said

I think we carry those we once loved in a tiny corner of our hearts. Once again, your words are perfect for the sentiment.

Yes, lost love can be found again, I have seen it happen, if the love is true. Your writing shows the faith and belief in such love.

I never liked the word good bye, in fact I once wrote a poem "bad bye"there was nothing good about it;-) I like farewell better. This is a beautiful passionate poem of how true love is imprinted within us forever. We can't get rid of it even if we use every method known to man. Accept it and deal with it the best we can, enjoying the good memories of what was shared and forgetting the rest....Thanks for sharing Peter!Love that art!

So true, your words are tugging at the heart.
I like this...
(For when you love like we did
You can never say goodbye
Because goodbye is a dirty word
That just should never be said)

This one is a keeper for me.

Lost love can be rekindled and it should be if there's a strong feeling to do so. Even though the clock wound down for the love we had for someone in another year, it can be rewound and that awesome life-giving tick reset. You see, in those years, why love didn't keep accurate time was because we were not ready. We had growing to do and now that we have grown and found peace, spirituality, and quality time for love, we can now invite it in our hearts as a Whole. Thanks Peter.
