'Yet we humans are supposed to be the caretakers of them all' how the original biblical 'compassionate care' became DOMINION OVER, i have yet to understand, King James did us, and our critter friends no favor when they garbled that one

I had a pair like that. Kept them for over 20 years. They were not only protective of each other, but if any one was going to harm me, they would have died protecting me. Yes, animals put us to shame.

As Bernice King said at her mother Coretta Scott King's homegoing service, mankind (generalist noun) was meant to have dominion over creation. Now creation has to tell us, both in plant and animal and mineral form, that we are all negligent by the way we have treated this gift planet called Earth.
Lovely write Bro. Ed. And my grandson LOVES the Animal Planet channel. (Guess who I think of everytime I see the featured creatures?) (smile)

We shun our responsibilities for the creatures of the earth and no man/woman has the heart of a loyal dog or cat...that is the honest truth! There is so much we could learn from animals if we could dump our egos long enough to understand that we are not superior to the beasts, simply a brother or sister to them. This is a heartwarming story, Ed and though it has left me with tears streaming down my cheeks, I am moved by this true-life Knight and his sweet kitty who he defends with his life.

| This is a very beatiful story Ed - I cannot add much to Peter's comment except I believe they both had the same owner and he took care of this 'lil one as a big brothr would look after a 'lil sister in a disaster. It stirs up my fatih in God, as this is what our big brother 'Jesus' does, he looks after us little ones and He wants us to do the same for others. This is what it is all about, don't you see? The answers we seek. We can find them in the animals. I have one such dog. I think I was given this dog to care for for a special reason; for as you say, I have learned much about life from this 'lil' animal, only 10#. I feel touched as by an angel this very day. |

This is such a precious, precious story, movingly depicted--mankind could learn something here. (And WE call animals "dumb".) This is a profoundly written tribute that reminds me that chivalry is not dead. Beautiful.

It just shows you Ed, that animals can teach us a lesson or two about chivalry and honour, this is a magnificent tale of looking after the weak and infirm.
It should inspire us all to greater heights of Love and Compassion in our own human world !
