We all know of or meet these people from time to time. Luke

DONNIE
A reminder to all we can always do more
Donnie
The girls in the office
We’re all afraid of him.
They’d rush and lock the doors
When they seen him coming in .
He walked the roads to and fro
All around our small town .
Had his own little spot
Out just past Tom Brown .
I knew him as a young man .
We’d meet from time to time.
Always decent and polite
Wouldn’t ask you for a dime.
Back then he drove a dozer
One of the best there was around
With steady eye and steady hand
He would work and level ground.
Then one day he lost his way
No one’s just sure how or why.
Out of his mind ? Who can say ?
Enough to make you want to cry.
This once fine young man
Who I once knew and liked
Had gone insane with untold pain
And on the roads he hiked.
I’d always pick him up in my truck
And I’d ask him where he’s going ?
He would say “anywhere to change my luck,”
And he would travel with me towing .
We talked of God , a better day
Old friends we both had known
His life was hard without a pay
His hatred of government had grown .
The years flew by as they seem to do
Never thought of Don too much
Days flying by my busy , busy life
A business , family , life’s troubles and such .
There was a fire out by Tom Browns
I heard a winter news report .
Don had burned in his sleep
Burning wood his last resort .
I can’t explain how I felt
I didn’t know him all that well.
But I had to stop and down I knelt.
I felt my heart start to swell.
I prayed for God to accept poor Don
But most of all to forgive my sin
For I realized with Don now gone
This awful guilt I wallow in.
