Tutor her in that region's flora
Tutor her in that region's fauna

How do you know there is a
fish in her lake?

Because she jumps out of the
water for flies at midday
her pretty curves ripple
the water

Is her berry safe to eat?
The darker the berry
the sweeter the juice

Coarse fibers of a
double coat of wool
suited for hand carding

Comes naturally in
earth tones as well as
ebony black
her ancestral sheep

She'll bake your bread
in her horno

Spoon you with a dipper
fashioned from a goat
horn inlay you with abalone

Work your corn bean
and squash field in your
bottom land below the

Farm your floodplain planted
in a deep arroyo

Scrape your still-warm hide
tan your hide and pound you
into pemmican

Dusting you with an owl's wing
walking around your field
dragging your garments over
the ground.

you know how many fish are in her lake by watching how deep her ripples are while dusting off your still-warm hide and tutoring you in what you already know ...

Ah smudging, outstanding images here Sage, so familiar are they, they,re almost like lost memories to me.

I agree with Kate below completely, she always seems to have the most adroit answer
This reminded me of the aphrodiasic qualities of the rhino's horn, and paralleled with the horn of Africa, and the alchemist's dream !
You are a genius Sage !

I admire the artistic and thoughtful images here, Sage... particularly the "dusting you with an owl's wing"... but I'm afraid all I can hear is Rolf Harris beside his billabong singing "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport"... tis all that hide-tanning, I'll be bound... so to speak... and Billie Joe Spears come to that.. with her Blanket On The Ground... Ahhhh! But arroyos take me back to Andalusia, so guess NOW I'm coming close, huh?? Especially as it's only a hop and a skip over the narrow strait to the coast of North Africa from there... and the tale of Coehlo's Alchemist... Fascinating didactics here, Sage. TY Kate xx
