Dicky went a’huntin’

Ostensibly for quail

If I had done what he did

My ass would be in jail

Some said he’s a great hunter

Afield or over pond

But rule number one is

Know your target and beyond

Some said it was the victim’s fault

He should have yelled, “I’m nigh”

But first the Twenty-eight did roar

The pellets then did fly

Some said Dicky’s an expert shot

At birdies on the fly

A feat for sure to shoot one’s face

And not to hit his eyes

Dicky went a’huntin’

Ostensibly for quail

If I had done what he did

My ass would be in jail

You're right but with a presidential favor no charges are brought, as this was an "accident", but I have written two such poems and while few did comment, I believe he could have killed the guy and still got off...Ed

Duke,

Your first and last stanzas: SPOT ON. I was just telling someone that....

The rest of the poem is just as eye opening and well told. Good!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
