One More for Ben,

Who Danced On Until the End

“I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
And never settle for the path of least resistance;
Living might mean taking chances,
But they're worth taking;
Loving might be a mistake,
But it's worth making.”

Lee Ann Womack,

I Hope You Dance

It takes great courage

For the underdogs today

In a world gone mad

The greed in our world

Ever continues to grow

At astounding rates

The hatred in our world

Ever continues to grow

At horrifying rates

The coldness in our hearts

Seems to be expanding

And only Self matters now

We once loved our neighbors

Now we ignore their plight

Or we attempt to destroy them

We once respected Religious

Cultural and Lifestyle Diversity

Now we demand Uniformity

Now we want to crush

Anyone or anything

That we perceive to be in our way

So I salute the underdogs

For their brave tenacity

To never crumble

Under oppression

Under constant ridicule

Under threat of death

It would be much easier

To simply cave in

Or to look the other way

It would be much simpler

To become part of the problem

Than to struggle against it

But underdogs never give up

They persist against all odds

Self is always last

Though true compassion

Seems to be out of modern fashion

- They dance on to the very end -

“Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter;
When you come close to selling out,
Reconsider;

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance.”

Bet I know what that poor dog was praying ... please, chair, please don't break. LOL! I always cheer for the Underdog, Ed.

This is a very inspiring poem ... glad to see your chin up, my friend. Love the Lee Ann Womack song ... so simple yet so full of wisdom for all ages.

Love & Light,
Joseph

I love everything about this, Ed. It seems that those of us who were raised "old school" find it increasingly difficult to keep quiet and not rock the boat. I think that integrity, respect and responsibility are all by lost to most of our youth and that saddens me. Who will mend the broken hearts and care for the earth and her creatures once we have gone?
Take care,
Sherry

Thanks Ed for telling it as it is - It is all so true - But we must keep on keeping on - the weak will overtake the strong - Remember the tale we were told as children of the rabbit and the tortise.

The underdog has the hunger and appetite for the battle as your late and great buddy Ben had Ed !
And the way to go is to leave it all up to God, then we become the independent observers !
I agree with Paul, marvellous picture
This is a stupendous start to my afternoon reviews !

I'm dancing to this one Ed, being an ardent supporter of the underdog (may have something to with being one from time to time). One should never underestimate the power of the underdog. Great piece, I love that pic.

I love it! Karla and myself can relate; we have been underdogs all our life, and we have had to fight tooth and nail to get where are at today! Very well done! BRAVO!
