Grandma

Now that I'm getting older, and
maybe a little slow-
Don't just take it for granted
that Grandma don't want to go!

If you're going for a ride, or
taking the kids to the park for play-
Stop in and invite me along-
It might just make my day!

If you see me on the porch sitting
in my old rocking chair-
Stop by and chat awhile with me-
You may find a good friend there!

My day's are long and lonely when
no one stops by-
Just throw up your hand in greeting-
Come on in and just say " Hi " .

A friendly hug, a warm smile, it means
a lot, you see-
A plate of food- a gentle touch- lets
me know you thought of me!

Just sit and hold my hand, if only
for a little while-
Or bring a book to read to me-
That always brings a smile!

Now that I'm getting older and maybe
a little slow-
Don't just take it for granted-
That Grandma don't want to go!

Having just lost one grandma last year, this poem further reminds me of the special times I had with her. I don't see my other grandma very much, but I don't take our time for granted. Very nice poem.
