Bright conqueror

I squint my eyes against the sun

invading the kitchen like a bright conqueror

blindingly bright on this March morning

injecting serotonin into my brain

I throw my arms out to the conquering sun in the first rush after the injection

and I get another hit

Iím a fly bumbling to life on the windowsill

in the winter sun

stupidly blinking in the kitchen

on my route of escape from the computer room

I must have worn a path into the linoleum, going back and forth

and I have an ulcer in my mouth to prove it

from all those olives wantonly sucked

in order to get a sense of accomplishment from something, anything

talk about oral fixation

at least Iím not drinking at the moment

but that could all be changed in an instant

oh, Iíll have another hit of serotonin instead

The emotions of the moment; the ambiance that you create via your verses bask the reader in the light of the "bright conqueror." Thank you, Janet. Love and peace to you,

"Bright conqueror" conquered my INNERmind's attention from the first line to the closing line, I had to heed the blinking of those --diamond pieces -- cut in brilliant form (READ WORDS) for their message and and contents.

Please check the closing lines... I could read the word "MWAHA".

You have the tools, the GIFT and the knowledge... DON'T LET YOUR PEN REST.

I salute You, Poet!

This is a fantastic piece on the serotonin syndrome, Janet. Very strong imagery used . I enjoyed reading this one.
