And I Have Loved You

and I have loved you

deep in the firefly darkness
freckled by pinpoints of silver white
while the moon laid gentle hands
on a prone world

high in the sun drenched heavens
where silk feathered birds
weave invisible paths on sapphire blue
while racing against the wind

across rust coloured deserts
where grains of tumbling sand
aspire to rise above the dusty horizon
with dreams of pyramids yet to be

beyond the spinning of the earth
before the lives within us now

longer than the stars have hung in the indigo night

we have been one

and I have loved you
