Please, Don't Tread On Me
by Barbara Lynn Terry

Please, don't tread on me,
I am only five years old,
Let me live so I can be,
A big girl to be told,
Life's lessons so I can see,
Just how I can be me,
So grown up and tall,
Just like mommy is,
And I can know this
Is not the end ,
Because I have to send,
Mommy my love,
And maybe daddy won't shove,
Me into my room,
Making me feel this is my doom.

Good write, filled with sincerity and fear but with a shade of hope that maybe the world will someday change.
